Today, there are several systems for carrying out risk analysis in companies, managed on the market by a multitude of consultants specialised in various subjects (safety, quality environment, privacy, CE marking, company organisation, finance and administration, transversal skills, etc.).

In companies, an annual report is usually compiled that estimates the risks and defines the main objectives, often based on the personal opinions of the entrepreneur and not on circumstantial facts based on regulations and tools for analysing all potential business risks.

This limitation of vision does not help management to have a complete overview of the situation, but only provides the partial information that each different consultant specialised in that particular subject proposes. In this way, the top management of the organisation, in the best of cases, navigates by sight, without foreseeing the consequences or possible scenarios. The responsibility for this does not lie with the entrepreneur, who cannot know all the regulations and risk assessment tools. regulations and risk assessment tools.

Itis therefore necessary to provide a comprehensive view of all risks, to reduce the time needed for analysis and to facilitate the entrepreneur to have a complete view of the risks and the necessary mitigation actions, through a single tool that allows him to make the wisest decisions in the shortest time.

The holistic view of risk in business

Ermolos (Entreprise Risk Managment + Olos) is the model developed by Om.En, which allows the integral and immediate analysis of business risks present in different organisations. Among the other features of the model is the ability to transform threats into opportunities and weaknesses into strengths, taking into account the context in which the company operates and political, economic, social, technological, economic and social factors. political, economic, social, technological, human, productive and relational factors.

The model covers theentire business scenewith a holisticThe model covers the entirecompany scene with a holistic vision and an approach based on "risk based thinking" (thinking and strategy with a focus on risk as a driver for change and innovation), which analyses in detail the internal and external factors that influence the ability to achieve the expected results of planned strategic objectives, which also take into account the expectations of the stakeholders: shareholders, customers, employees, suppliers, partnerships and collaborators. Through Ermolos it is possible to comprehensively achieve in less time those results expected for a correct management of corporate risk.

The theoretical and operational approach

The applied methodology includes a theoretical approach based on processes (organised sets of activities carried out in order to produce value), objectives (specific, attainable and measurable results that management aims to achieve) and performance indicators (highlighting objectively measurable aspects and allowing the achievement of objectives to be verified) and an analysis based on risks (potential events that reduce the possibility of achieving objectives), causes (factors that may determine the occurrence of business risk), controls (activities that reduce the possibility of risks occurring). The general operational approach consists of three activities:

  • preparation of the risk assessment (acquisition of company information, definition of the operational scope, elaboration of the analysis model);
  • sharing with top management (validation of the process model, identification of the mission and strategic business objectives of individual processes, identification of Process Owners and Major Processes with risk analysis through templates and tools);
  • qualitative and quantitative analysis of the processes, the analysis of the results, the proposal of activities to be implemented and the consequent action plan.
